In total, during a year of a pandemic and economic uncertainty, we raised more than $324,000 from individual donors.
As we bring 2020 to a close and reflect on what has been a very difficult year for us all, you have the power to make a difference. Your donation to the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism has a direct and meaningful impact on democracy and the quality of life in Wisconsin.
Reporting during a pandemic and times of crises is only possible with your support!
The planning of News414 began prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, but when we launched during the outbreak, the importance of this initiative became clear to us, now, more than ever.
Journalism that is grounded in facts, reporting the truth and providing in-depth coverage to give a whole picture of the problems that are impacting our society today is vital for a thriving democracy. Democracy cannot exist without honest journalism. And our investigative reporting cannot be done without your support.
Over our 11-year history, the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism has trained more than 50 young journalists and public engagement and marketing professionals. As the pandemic has ravaged the world, former Wisconsin Watch interns have been there to document it and provide crucial information to help the public navigate COVID-19.
We all can do our part to ensure fact-checked, in-depth reporting continues into 2021 and beyond. Join us in supporting Wisconsin Watch by giving a one-time gift of $60, $120, $240 or whatever you’re able to give.
This pandemic has upended life in Wisconsin, as it has around the globe. Each day in this state thousands of people are diagnosed with COVID-19, dozens of people die and many, many more struggle to keep a roof over their heads and food on their tables. This new reality has added greater weight to the journalism we produce at Wisconsin Watch to protect the vulnerable, expose wrongdoing and explore solutions.
We’re proud of our work.
For this year’s #GivingTuesday, we set a one-day goal of $5,000 for the first time in the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism’s history. We hoped that we could reach it by midnight to meet an inspiring match offered by donor Barbara Johnson. By 5 o’clock, your gifts exceeded our goal and by the end of the day, the grand total reached $6,848! On top of that, over a third of you who donated were first-time supporters of the Center and Wisconsin Watch, our newsroom.
In honor of #GivingTuesday, will you join Barbara and our many other generous donors by giving a donation today? This dollar-for-dollar $5,000 match is only available today. Make your year-end donation to Wisconsin Watch right now!
Whether you’ve been following Wisconsin Watch since the organization’s beginning in 2009 or you recently started following our reporting, we are grateful for you. Add your name to our list of donors by giving a donation today.
Your donation today impacts our ability to focus on nonpartisan, nonprofit investigative journalism, as well as members of the communities we serve through our reporting. Our work is more than a story. Lives, communities and even our democracy are on the line.
