  1. Dennis Smith Secretary of DHS previous position was as a senior fellow at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank in Washington, D.C. This is KOCH funded!! Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to read the handwriting on the wall–privatize and make $$$$$!!

  2. Don’t people realize that mental illness results in serious productivity losses to our country? Why are we cutting this crucial funding further? It’s not helping our country – let’s decrease mental illness rates – that will save some money….

  3. I wish more people had direct experience with individuals living with persistent and chronic mental illness. Without the services provided to a friend of mine he most likely would be dead, in jail, or locked in mental hospital. Although the services he recieves are not perfect they have allowed him to live in the community without a hospitalization for two years. Without ongoing services like medication monitoring (a mental health department employee stops by his house to remind him to take his medication)my friend would be costing the state a lot more money because of the cost associated with hospitalization o jail services. By cutting funding to mental health we risk higher costs in other areas but most of all we should be concerned about our fellow man.
